Words and Wine scheduled Tuesday

The monthly Words and Wine event hosted by Kona Stories Book Shop at 6 p.m. Tuesday will feature authors Jaime Gardner Johnson, Sa’arah E. Felix and LiAnn Uyeda. The event is free to the public and offers a chance to meet and greet some of Kona’s favorite authors while enjoying complimentary pupu and wine.

Johnson is a ninth grade English teacher and former director of education at Brukner Nature Center. As a life-long nature lover, she has worked with rehabilitation centers for both raptors and other wildlife. Jaime lives with her husband and two children in Waimea, where they enjoy hiking in the volcanic hills in search of pueo owls. “The Ghost of Donley Farm” is her debut picture book.

Felix has been studying healing modalities for more than 20 years. She started out in Switzerland with Reiki in 1990 and soon after got trained in metamorphosis. She is a Reiki master, life enhancement coach and sared card reader. “Sacred Awakening Deck” includes 76 cards and guidebook to support your transformation and evolution.

Uyeda explores the connection between cooking and living in a way that is good and right. Cooking in pono means to cook with a passion for giving and helping — a way of living that Hawaiian describe as pono, goodness, uprightness, and excellence. As a lomilomi practitioner, Uyeda has found food not only delights the senses but nurtures the soul and can help direct ones’ journey. “Cooking in Pono” captures the essence of ono (delicious) local foods shared in Hawaii paired with inspiring stories about healing, growing, learning, and living in pono (excellence).
